DEATH OF MRS. AMBROSE HEWSON
(JEMIMA HANNAM)

The death occurred on Saturday, September 4, at her residence, 131 Elgin Street East (Oshawa) of Jemima Hannam, beloved wife of the late Ambrose Hewson, in her 91st year. Mrs. Hewson had been confined to her bed for eleven weeks, and had been in failing health for the past four years.

Born at Brooklin, she was a lifelong resident of the district, coming to Oshawa with her husband 33 years ago. She was a member of King Street United Church. Her main interests were in her home and her family. Until recently she had been quite bright and enjoyed knitting and doing handicrafts.

Predeceased by her husband eight years ago, she leaves to mourn her passing four daughters, Mrs. Jessie Woodward, 92 Elgin Street East; Mrs. B. Brock, Toronto; Mrs. Hazel Clark, 135 Elgin East and Miss Edith Hewson, 131 Elgin East and four sons, William, 137 Church Street; Fred of Lyons, New York; James of East Whitby; and Walter of Agincourt. A sister, Mrs. Emma Lane, 93 Bruce Street; 14 grandchildren and eight great grandchildren survive.

The funeral was held from her residence at 3 p.m. yesterday followed by interment in Groveside Cemetery, Brooklin. The services were conducted by Rev. J. V. McNeely, pastor of King Street United Church.
