DEATH OF JOHN SAMUEL JEPHSON

John Samuel Jephson, formerly police magistrate in Pickering, and later owner of a Brooklin hardware store, died unexpectedly at his Brooklin home Tuesday Nov. 18, at the age of 85.

Born in Goderich, Ont., Mr. Jephson also lived at Seaforth, Norval and Streetsville before moving to Pickering. At Streetsville, he was superintendent at the Toronto Milling Company's mill. He was mill superintendent for J. L. Spink Company at Pickering.

He moved to Brooklin 29 years ago and opened his hardware store retiring in 1947.

Mr. Jephson was three times past master of Doric Lodge AF and AM, Brooklin and a member of the IOOF. He was a member of Brooklin United Church.

His wife predeceased him. Surviving relatives are two daughters, Mrs. Douglas (Bea) Norman of Peterborough; and Mrs. Grant (Mildred) Sine, of Newmarket. Also surviving him are three grandchildren and five great grandchildren,

Funeral services will be conducted at the Robinson Funeral Chapel Brooklin, by Rev. S. J. Hillier of Brooklin United Church Friday at 2:30 p.m. Interment will follow at Erskine Cemetery, Dunbarton.
