Monthly MeetingsOur monthly meetings, held at 7:30 p.m. at Brooklin United Church on the fourth Wednesday of each month (except July, December, and January) are designed to provide an interesting evening of an informative nature. Each month, timely topics are chosen in the hope that they will be helpful to the average home gardener, including those who have just taken up the hobby. Members and guests are asked to suggest the topics they would like to have in the year's program. For details of this year's meeting topics, check the calendar of events. Question & Answer PeriodIncorporated into each regular meeting is a time period for members and all those present to ask questions about gardening problems and procedures. If no answers are available at the meeting, further research will be done or some other information source may be suggested. Flower ShowsSince one of the purposes of the society is to encourage the production of high quality plant and flower products, shows are held each month from April to October (except July). These flower shows give members a chance to exhibit new varieties, uncommon plants, and creative arrangements. The shows are also an opportunity to be judged by experts on the merits of our everyday garden variety flowers and vegetables. Much can be learned by the judges comments. Our flower shows are open to all current paid-up members. Winners are eligible for prize points which earn monetary value, and can win some of the numerous society awards and trophies given for various best-of-show entries thoughout the year. |
